About Us
Shards Glass Studio on Gabriola Island, BC is a husband and wife team - Susan Isaac and Marn Williams.
We produce original fused glassware, art pieces, cast glass sculpture and leaded or foiled architectural panels that often include fused and kiln cast glass features.
We draw inspiration from our Canadian West Coast rural forested surroundings and the nearby ocean and gulf islands. Both settings provide a fascinating palette of rich images and an enchanting and restful environment.
We combine over 30 years of experience with doing glasswork together. Marn began with stained glass work in 1975. We both were then first introduced to glass fusing when we took a workshop while visiting Kauai in 1997. Shards Glass Studio then came into being in Sooke, BC on a forested property. Since then, we have had the privilege of being taught by some of the best glass artists in Canada and the U.S.
As her skills progressed, Susan kicked off her “side hustle” of beautiful, butterfly inspired fused glass pendants and glass microphotography on fabrics. Check out the Susan Isaac Design website, which is undergoing changes of its own.
In addition to offering two distinct styles from two enthusiastic artists, Shards Glass Studio also offers a third unique style resulting from our collaborations in a multitude of designs.
We use Shards Glass Studio as a forum to develop our glass fusing and kiln casting techniques, enrich our creativity through collaboration, give to our community, and impart what we have learned to others. Exploring and sharing is a driving force in our lives.
